MSDN Library revealed possible official name for Windows Server ‘Longhorn’

While the new Windows Server is already in Beta 3 stage, no official announcement had been made by Microsoft regarding the official naming. However, in an article found on the MSDN Library describing the Windows Communication Foundation, there exist a paragraph:

Exploring Your Hosting Options
On the Microsoft .NET platform, you have several types of managed Windows applications that you can create with Microsoft Visual Studio.NET:

  • WinForms applications
  • Console applications
  • Windows services
  • Web applications (ASP.NET) hosted on Internet Information Services (IIS)
  • WCF services inside IIS 7.0 and WAS on Windows Vista or Windows Server 2007
