Cost price of iPhone 3G S

By hayami.wai, June 26, 2009 12:25 am

iSuppli has once again dissected the iPhone and analysed the BOM and manufacturing cost. At a cost price of US$178.96 and the retail price at US$199, it seems that the margin for the phone is extremely low. But do note that US$199 is what consumers pay to the mobile carriers. Behind the scene, mobile carriers had actually absorbed much of the cost, but made their earning thru monthly subscriptions.

By hayami.wai, June 19, 2009 8:43 am

Windows 7 to Windows XP downgrade will be available till April 2011 or until Windows 7 SP1 is released, as according to the latest unofficial statement from Microsoft. Prior to this, the downgrade was only available for 6 months after Win7 launch (April 2010), where OEMs can still sell PCs installed with WinXP. After the expiry date, OEMs can only sell Win7 PCs.

It is also worth nothing the Windows XP is now in the extended support phase.

By hayami.wai, June 17, 2009 8:54 am

The team responsible for the jailbreaking of the iPhone OS has cracked the latest iPhone OS 3.0 (which has yet to be released to the general public), enabling it to be installed on non AT&T cells.

On Tuesday evening (just before the big Apple release) we’ll do a live demo of the yellowsn0w carrier unlock working on official 3.0 firmware. The actual link for the feed will be twittered by @MuscleNerd and also placed here when the feed starts. The demo should answer everything you need to know about the new yellowsn0w. But it’s good news for iPhone 3G unlockers everywhere.
