By hayami.wai, February 26, 2007 12:44 am

Windows XP’s minimun requirement was 233Mhz processor and 64MB RAM. But this had been proven untrue after some guys over at Europe had managed to install XP into a 8Mhz and 20MB RAM system.

http://www.winhistory.de/ is also a very interesting site, recording the entire history of the Windows Operating System, back from Windows 1.0 to the latest Vista. Unfortunately, the site is in German, you might want to use AltaVista’s Babel Fish to translate the contents.

Vista upgrade kills your XP key

By hayami.wai, January 30, 2007 5:49 pm

If you have decided to upgrade your existing Windows XP to Vista, your existing XP key will be invalidated, preventing activation. This move is to prevent users from dual booting or using the XP key on another computer. This is reasonable, as you are upgrading, removing the need for the older key.

But here comes the question. What it you decided to downgrade back to Windows XP? Having activated the Vista Upgrade, the old Windows XP key would be rendered useless already… *shrugs
